IITM BS Exam Dates for the January 2028 Term (DS and ES)

The January 2028 term starts on Friday, 4 February 2028. The end term exam is on Sunday, 7 May 2028, and DS and ES follow the same schedule.

What each exam is

• Quiz 1 (12 March 2028): the first in-person quiz. It checks weeks 1 to 4 of every course you registered for.
• Programming quiz 1 (25 and 26 March 2028): the first OPPE, on a Saturday and the Sunday after it.
• Quiz 2 (9 April 2028): the second in-person quiz, on weeks 1 to 8.
• Programming quiz 2 (23 and 30 April 2028): the second OPPE, on two Sundays. The OPPE post covers the rules if you miss one.
• End term (7 May 2028): the last exam of the term. Each course gets 1.5 hours.

How to plan this term

• You have 37 days before Quiz 1. Get into a weekly routine in February.
• The first half runs in two-week steps. Quiz 1 is on 12 March, programming quiz 1 about two weeks later, and Quiz 2 two weeks after that.
• After Quiz 2 you get two weeks, then three exam Sundays back to back: 23 April, 30 April and 7 May.
• If you carry a make-up end term from the September 2027 term, you write it on 7 May 2028 too. Plan your revision for it alongside this term's courses.

How long is each quiz this term?

Each quiz is a single sitting that covers all your courses. It lasts 4 hours if you take 4 courses, 3 hours for 3 courses, and 2 hours for 1 or 2 courses. See how Quiz 1 and Quiz 2 work.

I have a make-up from the September 2027 term. How many courses can I take?

The handbook caps final exams at 4 per term, and make-ups count toward that cap. Your new and repeat full courses must also fit within your CCC. So a make-up on 7 May 2028 uses one of your four end term slots. The make-up exam rules have the details.

Which Sundays in April 2028 have no exam?

Sunday, 2 April and Sunday, 16 April. The other April Sundays, 9, 23 and 30 April, all have exams. In March, Sunday, 19 March is also free, so plan personal events for those weekends.
