IITM BS Exam Dates for the September 2029 Term (DS and ES)

The September 2029 term starts on Friday, 28 September 2029, and the end term exam is on Sunday, 6 January 2030. The DS and ES handbooks give the same dates for this term.

There is no ES only change this term. Both tables have the same nine rows.

What each exam is

• Quiz 1 (11 November): a proctored, in-person quiz on weeks 1 to 4.
• Programming quiz 1 (24 and 25 November): OPPE 1, on one weekend.
• Quiz 2 (2 December): the second in-person quiz. It covers weeks 1 to 8, so Quiz 1 topics return.
• Programming quiz 2 (9, 16 and 23 December): OPPE 2, over three Sundays in a row. The OPPE page explains what is tested.
• End term (6 January 2030): 1.5 hours for each course. End term rules cover eligibility.

How to plan this term

• The run-up is long. Quiz 1 comes 44 days after the start, more than six weeks.
• After that the pace picks up. From 11 November to 23 December there are seven exam days in six weeks.
• Quiz 2 is only 21 days after Quiz 1 and one week after programming quiz 1. Keep your Quiz 1 notes handy, because the same topics come back.
• After the last programming quiz on 23 December, you get 14 days before the end term. Sunday, 30 December 2029 is free, and New Year falls in this gap.

Common questions

Are there any exams in October 2029?

No. The first exam of the term is Quiz 1 on 11 November 2029. October is for lectures and weekly assignments. Your assignment average is one of the things that decides whether you can sit for the end term.

Can I skip Quiz 2 on 2 December and still write the end term?

Yes, if you wrote Quiz 1 and meet the assignment rule. You must attend at least one of the two quizzes. The skipped quiz scores 0, and no make-up quiz is given.

I missed the May 2029 end term. When is my make-up?

It is at this term's end term on 6 January 2030. You can take the make-up only once, and only in the very next term.
