IITM BS Exam Dates for the May 2030 Term (DS and ES)

The May 2030 term starts on Friday, 7 June 2030, and ends with the end term exam on Sunday, 8 September 2030. DS and ES have the same dates this term.

Nothing differs for ES. The Saturday programming quiz 2 day is in both handbooks.

What each exam is

• Quiz 1 (14 July): the first in-person quiz. Questions come from weeks 1 to 4.
• Programming quiz 1 (27 and 28 July): OPPE 1, across a weekend.
• Quiz 2 (11 August): the second in-person quiz. Questions come from weeks 1 to 8. The Quiz 1 and Quiz 2 guide shows how they count.
• Programming quiz 2 (18 August, 25 August and 31 August): OPPE 2, on two Sundays and then a Saturday. See how OPPE works.
• End term (8 September): the final in-person exam, 1.5 hours per course.

How to plan this term

• You have 37 days before Quiz 1 and then 13 more before programming quiz 1.
• Between programming quiz 1 and Quiz 2 you get 14 days. That is the last two-week break of the term.
• From 11 August the exams come weekly: Quiz 2, then programming quiz 2 on 18 August, 25 August and 31 August.
• Day 3 of programming quiz 2 is a Saturday, only six days after day 2. The end term follows 8 days later. If you get the 31 August slot, you will go from a programming exam into end term week with little rest.

Common questions

Why is the third programming quiz 2 day on a Saturday?

The handbook does not say. It lists Saturday, 31 August 2030, and the weekday matches the date. The other two programming quiz 2 days are Sundays.

I missed the January 2030 end term. When is my make-up?

At this term's end term on 8 September 2030. The make-up is for students who missed the end term alone, and you get it only once.

What assignment score do I need before the end term?

In a 12-week course, the average of your best 5 scores from the first 7 weekly assignments must be at least 40 out of 100. This can differ by course, so check your grading document. You also need to have written at least one quiz.
