IITM BS Exam Dates for the September 2028 Term (DS and ES)

The September 2028 term starts on Friday, 29 September 2028, and its end term exam is on Saturday, 6 January 2029. DS and ES have identical dates this term.

The ES table is the same as the DS one, including the Saturday end term.

What each exam is

• Quiz 1 (5 November 2028): the first in-person quiz of the term, on content from weeks 1 to 4.
• Programming quiz 1 (25 and 26 November): OPPE 1, held over one weekend.
• Quiz 2 (3 December): the second in-person quiz, on weeks 1 to 8.
• Programming quiz 2 (10, 17 and 24 December): OPPE 2, over three Sundays in a row. How OPPE works tells you whether your courses have one.
• End term (6 January 2029): the final exam, 1.5 hours per course. Check the end term eligibility rules well before this date.

How to plan this term

• This September term actually starts in September, on 29 September. Quiz 1 comes 37 days later.
• You get 20 days between Quiz 1 and programming quiz 1. That is the longest gap between two exams this term.
• From 25 November to 24 December there are six exam days in a month: two programming quiz 1 days, Quiz 2 and three programming quiz 2 days. Quiz 2 is only one week after programming quiz 1.
• After 24 December you get 13 days before the end term. New Year falls in this gap, so decide early how much of it goes to revision.

The term before is May 2028, the next is January 2029, and every term is in IITM BS exam dates 2026 to 2030.

Common questions

Is the end term really on Saturday, 6 January 2029?

That is what both handbooks list, and 6 January 2029 is a Saturday. It is unusual, because the handbook describes end term exams as Sunday exams. Confirm the date with the support team closer to the term.

Which of the three programming quiz 2 days is mine?

The handbook does not say. It lists 10, 17 and 24 December 2028. Keep all three free until your own exam schedule is shared.

If I miss this end term, when is the make-up?

The make-up happens at the next term's end term. For this term, that is Sunday, 13 May 2029, in the January 2029 term. You get only one make-up attempt.
