IITM BS Student Performance Leaderboard Explained

The Student Performance Leaderboard is a portal that shows how you are doing in the IITM BS. It gives subject-wise rankings, level completion rankings and course-wise performance analytics. You can open it only with your registered student email ID, and you see only your own results and ranks. Data Science and Electronic Systems each have their own leaderboard link, and both handbooks link a user guide.

What the leaderboard shows

That is all the handbook says about the contents. For the details of each view, read the user guide linked in the same section.

How to open it

1. Sign in with your student email ID. This is the roll number address you get after your foundation level documents are approved: roll_number@ds.study.iitm.ac.in (opens in a new tab) for Data Science or roll_number@es.study.iitm.ac.in (opens in a new tab) for Electronic Systems.
2. Open the leaderboard link for your programme. It is in section 31 of the DS handbook and section 27 of the ES handbook, titled "Introducing the Student Performance Leaderboard".
3. Open the user guide linked just below it if any view is unclear.

Your personal email will not work, even though you used it when you first registered for courses.

Why only your student email works

The handbook says this rule is there so that each student can see only their own performance and rankings. Other students cannot open your view, and you cannot open theirs.

What the handbook does not say

The handbook section is short. It does not explain:

• how the ranks are calculated,
• how often the data is updated,
• whether the rankings are used for anything else.

The prize rules in the same handbook use only CGPA. They do not mention the leaderboard. So a leaderboard rank is information for you, not a separate award. If the leaderboard does not open

• Check that the browser is signed in with your student email, not a personal Google account. If you use several accounts, try a private window and sign in with the student ID only.
• Make sure you opened the link for your own programme. The DS and ES links are different.
• If it still fails, raise a support ticket through the student support portal and mention the leaderboard link you tried.

Common questions

Can my friends see my rank?

No. The handbook says each student can see only their own performance and rankings, which is why the portal needs your student email.

Does my leaderboard rank affect my grades or prizes?

The handbook does not link the leaderboard to grades or prizes. Prizes are decided on CGPA at fixed points in the programme.

Can I use the leaderboard before I get my student email?

No. It opens only with your registered student email ID, and you receive that ID once your foundation level documents are approved.
