IITM BS Results, Answer Keys and Re-Evaluation

End term results come out before registration for the next term opens, and your grades are recorded in your progress card and grade card. The student handbooks and the FAQ pages do not describe any answer key release or re-evaluation process for quizzes or end term exams. If you think a mark or grade is wrong, raise a support ticket and, if needed, use the escalation matrix.

Where your results show up

The handbooks say the progress card and grade card are made available automatically. A 14 June 2024 letter from the Dean (Academic Courses) adds that only cumulative grade cards are issued, not term-wise grade cards, and that there is no provision for backlog certificates. When results come out

The handbook's exam date table does not list result dates. Two lines tell you the order of events:

• Checkpoint notices go out "after the End-Term results are released and two days before course registration". So end term results come before the next registration.
• For credit transfer courses, the handbook warns that result dates often do not line up with registration. Its example: a credit transfer course taken in January 2026 will likely have results after May 2026 registration, so the credits move only in September 2026.

The gap between an end term and the next term start is short. From the handbook's date table:

Answer keys and re-evaluation

We checked both handbooks, the DS academics page and the DS FAQ. None of them mentions answer keys, a feedback form or a re-evaluation process for quizzes or end term exams. So we cannot tell you such a process exists, or what it costs. If your course team announces one, follow its steps.

Projects are different. The handbook gives them second chances inside the grading itself: a resubmission if your L1 viva score is below the lower cutoff, and a second attempt at the L2 viva. That is not re-evaluation, but it is a built-in retry.

If you think a mark is wrong

1. Recheck it yourself. Use the weights in your course's grading document and add up your parts. Remember the January 2026 bonus rules, and that a make-up is graded with the formula of the term you did the course work.
2. Raise a support ticket. Give your roll number, the course, the exam, the mark shown, the mark you expected and screenshots.
3. Wait 24 hours, then follow up on the same ticket. Do not open a new one.
4. Escalate in order if there is still no answer: Level 1 and Level 2 contacts, then the programme coordinators, the Dean (Academics) and the Director. Always quote your ticket number. See support and escalation.

A mark matters most near a line. If your own sum gives 51 but the grade shown is an E, that is worth a ticket, because 51 would be a D with 6 points instead of 4.

Results can be held back

The DS academics page says that if overseas exam norms are broken, results may be withheld while the exam committee investigates. See IITM BS malpractice rules.

Common questions

Can I see my answer script?

The handbooks and FAQ pages do not describe any way to view your answer script. Ask through a support ticket if you need it.

My result is not out and registration is about to open. What should I do?

Raise a support ticket at once and mention the registration dates. Your result affects which courses you can take, your recommended course load and, if you are near a checkpoint, whether you may register at all.

Will a failed attempt show on my records?

Yes, on the term-wise progress card, which lists every attempt and grade. The grade card shows each course only once, with your best score.
