How the rule works
Only your best two of the first three weekly scores count in each course. If you scored 70, 0 and 55, your best two are 70 and 55, so your average is 62.5%. A week you skip counts as zero, so one missed week leaves no room for a bad week.
You must clear the cut-off in every course — a strong average in three courses does not make up for one below the line.
A worked example
A General-category Data Science student (cut-off 40% in each course) scores:

Three strong courses are not enough: English 1 misses the line by 2.5 percentage points, so this student would not get a hall ticket. Planning backwards from the rule helps:
- Weeks 1 and 2 are your real attempts. Week 3 is the safety net that replaces one bad week — not a second chance at two.
- A zero in week 1 makes weeks 2 and 3 count in full. Both then need to average at least the cut-off.
- Check the weakest course first. The rule is decided by your lowest course, not your best one.
